Once upon a Fleur De Lis, a child was born. The date was September 9, 1993. The time of birth was 6:00 am. According to some, the birthplace of this child was a horrible place. He was born in the toe of a boot located at the bottom of the map of the United States of America. It was a former murder capital. The murder rate was at nearly 80 homicides per 100,000 people with a population of almost 500,000 people. The locals suffered under the system that has been keeping a country of people separate. The system imposed a feeling of isolation amongst those people unfortunate enough to be considered a cog in this “greater machine.” That machine or system, whichever you prefer, was designed to keep the people within it silent as well as complicit and was working magnificently. It has been teaching generations of people to generalize and prejudge each other based on meaningless things, such as color, money, appearance, etc. Not to mention, the psychological ramifications that plague the people here. Being subject to this system made a person simply, but effectively, hate. Hate themselves. Hate your people. Hate the sky, believe in the negative energy seeping through. Also, known as Dark Matter.
The Toe in The Boot’s booming tourist industry, powered by booze and sex and drugs, and exploitation of the locals are all examples of Dark Matter and was increasingly counterproductive. Every day, a piece of the natural cultural charisma was sold to someone that believed they
“know exactly what this toe in the boot needs...a bar.”
Or even
“a restaurant with cuisine like nowhere else.”
These were, on the surface, noble intentions, but what human can resist the temptations of vagina and booze. These are prime examples of Dark Matter. The vagina isn’t always entangled with Dark Matter but it can be and it is lethal. A characteristic of Dark Matter is it rarely seems threatening when first experienced, but then, over time, you begin to deteriorate. It is the reason Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. It was not because of some sense of understanding or compassion but because the effect of relying on the negative energy of Dark Matter will inevitably destroy the good that you are or could be. Leaving nothing but a crisp inside and a soft, doughy outside of a person. The surplus of these ambitions turning into absolute destructive behavior and that The Toe in The Boot’s entire economy is based upon these things turned the entire city into a living, internally burned Big Toe. Perpetually trapped, forever dipped in the swamp water to cool off.
To go along with the surplus of these bars and restaurants built for world domination, the locals' ability to serve and own and maintain these businesses far exceeds any outsiders hoping to cash in on the honey pot of wealth built by the Darkest of Matter in this place’s booming economy. It is almost an innate immunity. Things that you have tormented and ravaged your community your whole life tend to lose that shiny, new look sooner than later opposed to someone recently engulfed in something brand new to them that they never knew existed.
Many a “Yankee”, we shall call them, has come to The Toe In A Boot to consume the Dark Matter and think that the kindness of the locals was a distinct weakness that can be exploited with the most minimal of effort. A high percentage of these Yankees continue to fail in their endeavors. The others have adapted to the customs and ways of the locals. Which include but is not limited to;
Be kind. Work smart, not hard. Put your money where your mouth is. A funeral is a celebration or a party, if you will, just the final one for a person or persons. Life is a party, as well.
